Male Laser Hair Removal Treatments

The popularity of laser hair removal has been growing, and it is not just for women anymore.

Some men and the women that love them enjoy body hair. Yet, there are others that are either embarrassed to the point that it affects their quality of life or some that just prefer a smoother look. It is for these people that male laser hair removal exists.

Laser hair removal is typically available for most areas of the body, however the back, chest and shoulders are the most common areas treated.

Treatment can consist of minor thinning all the way to complete removal. It should be noted though that complete removal is not necessarily permanent. Because the laser energy kills the hair root, not the follicle, it is possible that the hair may grow back after an extended period of time.

The ideal candidates for laser hair removal are those with fairer skin and darker hair. Of course, it goes without saying that you should consult your physician prior to the procedure to answer any questions you may have and to also learn about laser hair removal safety, advantages and disadvantages.

Safety

As with any medical procedure or treatment, there are risks and safety issues that must be considered – laser hair removal is no different. Most people will experience minimal effects, however, it is imperative that you discuss you concerns with your physician or a licensed treatment center prior to any procedure you have performed.

There are a few critical questions/concerns you should ask prior to deciding if laser hair removal treatment is right for you. This should also give you an idea if the treatment center is right for you. If you are uncomfortable with the personnel or the answers you get, you should investigate other centers until you find one that you are comfortable with.

       1. Do they explain the complete procedure with you, including risks that are common to laser hair removal?
       2. How long have they been performing the procedures you are interested in receiving?
       3. What type of licensing and training do their employees have? Who will be performing the procedure?
       4. Do they review your medical history to ensure you are a valid candidate for laser hair removal?
       5. What are their procedures for ensuring your safety and those of the person performing the procedure?
       6. What type of pain will be experienced during and after the procedure?
       7. What will they do to minimize the intensity and duration of the pain after the procedure?
       8. How many treatments will be necessary to get your desired results? How much will the treatments costs?

There are bound to be other questions you will want to ask, so these should be used as a starting point in your research. You should only make your decision after you have weighed each of the advantages and disadvantages.

Cost

Cost is dependant upon the area of body that will be treated. Smaller areas of the body typically cost anywhere from $100 to $500 per session. The back area, being much larger could possibly be priced as high as $900 per session. You should also consider the number of treatments sessions that will be required in the overall cost.

Complete removal will of course require more sessions than just thinning, so that should also be considered in your decision making process.

Treatment centers will typically discount prices if you are willing to purchase multiple treatment sessions at the beginning. There is also the option of working out finance plans with the treatment centers. It is important that all associated costs for your treatment plan are discussed up front and prior to making any kind of commitment.
